I was in Hope, MN. today and noticed this little dive and I wondered if Mark is going to model "R&L's Pit Stop" in his quest to model the whole metropolis.

Or at least steal some signs I've seen: Hope, AZ "you are now beyond hope":

Or, maybe in the suburbs: "Little Hope"... best known for the Church of Little Hope (for real, but now closed).... append this to a typical community search and it gets even funnier:

You better believe it, Doug!
R&L's Pit Stop was originally a service station way back in the day (1920's). It was converted to a bar in 1930's ("Hope Tavern") and has had numerous owners and name changes over the years.

I usually stop by and have a beer whenever I'm down there to take pictures
Cheers, -Mark
P.S. What the heck were you doing in Hope, and did you take advantage of the opportunity to stock up on some of that fabulous Hope Butter??

I actually was in Ellendale first checking out the copier in the First National Bank there and then, on the way back to Rochester, I decided to pay a visit to the gals in the Bank in Hope as a courtesy call (we have a machine in there too).
So, I just looked around a bit and saw that neat little building. I wanted to stop for a beer in the worst way but I was "on duty"
EDIT: Dang, didn't even think about the butter. I'll remember the next time.

Spook, May I just say that your MRADD is inspiring and frightening at the same time. Watching you hop from layout to layout could be a hobby in and of itself!
There is indeed Little Hope for you!

I also looked for (OK so you don't have to look very far in Hope )and found the other structures of which Mark has posted pictures:
The Church
The former hardware store
The station
OK, kidding about the station
I could still feel its presence though.

You guys are eventually going to get really sick of hearing about Hope. I've discovered that modeling "real" things takes considerably longer than modeling "freelance" things, and I expect I'll be banging away on (and posting about) this particular layout for a reeeeeeeaaaaally looooooong time

Cheers, -Mark
