Walthers is saying this Electrical Towers Kit is backordered. Is there another kit out there? Anyone have any experience with these. Looks like it would be a great addition to my layout crossing my mountain area. Thanks Charles

I prefer photo etched towers. Much finer detail and closer to scale. IIRC one I built was from Scale Link (British manufacturer, purchased from Neils N-gauging trains) and I think that TrainCat makes even finer towers (but pricey).

If you can find them, "Into Details" made some nice etched brass ones in the late 1990s. I haven't heard them mentioned in years, though, so doubt that they're still in business.

Charles asked me in a PM but since this info will be useful to all I will reply here.

Neal's domain www.nealstrains.com seems to have been picked up by someone else so the website is currently not active. The store moved to a small warehouse location last summer (I visited them during the move in August). So unless you find their phone number you'll have to get the tower kit directly from Scale Link.
The specific kit I mentioned is shown at http://www.scalelink.co.uk/acatalog/Scale_1_152_160__N____Echelle_1_160__N_.html .
Scroll down to "400 Kv ELECTRICITY PYLON KIT (Reference #SNF012)".

However for the price of that kit, TrainCat has much nicer models. See http://traincat2.com/d_tower.htm

I use these. I built several. They come in several different styles.
They are photoetched brass kits from Traincat Model Sales.
I use a mixture of 2-part epoxy and ACC to assemble them.

Here's the kit guts:
