Title says it all. Never been done decently in 2 rail O, 4 or 5 paint schemes, short, 4 wheel trucks, a really great loco that would look superb with all the Amtrak stuff Atlas has done.
Use the GP35 chassis??? Perhaps? I need to check on the lengths of each.
How 'bout it?
I still think the CF7 would sell too. And, you have the chassis there in the F3's.

Great idea!

Also, the second idea (CF-7) is still super and a money maker for Atlas suited especially for thiose without the space to run the California Zephyr (which is probably most of us)!

I have the best idea yet. How about a Milwaukee SDL39 or a Wisconsin & Southern SDL39 or the line in Chile that bought them.

Gents,

A CF-7 would be great! They were every where at one time and still are out there. There are also some great paint schemes on them. Plus, you can see them on the mains and short lines.
Athearn did a great job on theirs and did a lot of cool paint schemes for them. Mostly regional roads, but hey, cool non the less!

What about the overland model? Also, how about two railing an MTH or a K-line model?

The MTH F40 is not terribly good. The tooling is not as detailed as Atlas (oe Weaver) and the model has limitations, older versions have clunky renditions of FT style Blomberg trucks, the fuel tank and pilots are too short, and I could go on. I have an old 2 rail unit from about 12 years ago. It pulls well and is better than nothing but is less than great.

I would like to see something that hasn't been done yet in O - The CF7!!!

The F40 was done in K-line (nice) and MTH Premier + Railking, I can hold off on more these.
