I thought I would just post three pictures of my Family Lines PS4750 hoppers and perhaps do more on Sunday photo fun. Notice the larger jacking pads and air line running down the side on the first and third cars (and the second one with just the air line and CSXT reporting marks). Tom Johnson

Excellent work tom. I like the weathering. They look so very much like the CSX and other LO's I see almost daily, here in Town.

Nice work. I assume those are InterMountain cars? Did you work from proto pictures or did you do what's being called "fantasy weathering".

Thanks guys. Raildog, I weathered this large batch of cars (about 60) using proto pictures I took over the years and some from the fallen flags website. I used to do a lot of "fantasy weathering" after observing many hoppers over the years and just remembering what I saw (I have been told that I have a photographic memory) but decided to look at proto pictures for most of my weathering I do now. I really like mellow-mike's weathering and I think he does everything from pictures. I have been weathering for many many years but I still learn and get ideas from others on this forum and other places. I also use some of Jim Six's methods of weathering with some slight variations. Have any of you noticed how much good weathered cars are going for on ebay? I saw one the other day that had bids for over $200 and several from one person (over a few months) that averaged bids from $70 to $100 a car (his weathering is very nice!). I will add more Saturday or Sunday on photo fun. Tom Johnson

INRAIL/Tom, "OUTSTANDING" weathering on the models, & track as well. VERY realistic indeed!

Very, very nice job. The only question I have is why did you ruin an otherwise perfect job by adding the CSXT patch job?? Haha...keep 'em pure! Throw in an L&N version and I might be bidding you up on ebay if you ever decide to go that route.

Brings back memories of Bloomington IN around 1980. Used to see hundreds of these cars. Only critisizm would be that the rails on your beautiful R O W need to be less than parallel if representing L&N trackage of the era! I have several "roof and underframe" detail photos as a result of the track conditions at the south end of McDoel yard at the time.
Nice models and trackage!

Tom, I'm well aware about the eBay prices. I sell custom weathered cars on eBay and us that do, realize that price isn't always an indicator of quality, because some people would pay $100 for an air brushed Lionel rocket car. You have a good eye for the process and I really like your work.

Tom, Great looking !!!! havent done the out side air pipe here yet, dont want to fool with adding the brake cylinder and levers to the cars!!! Raildog, is the NC&StL car by A&A Hobbies ??? or is it decaled ??? cant recall seeing that on any E&B car, and just went thru them about 2 weeks back. do have an L&N by A&A me thinks ???? at one time was trying to get ALL decorated versions by E&B,A&A,Pro Custum Hobbies, and any others that did them. never have seen GTW,or MONON,and maybe DT&I by E&B,but keep looking for them !!! GATOR2,GATOR1,GATOR2 Spikre-4265 note----on closer look it does seem to be a Bowser body ???

Yes, it a Bowser car that I accidently melted in a bizzare decaling incident. It did pretty well on eBay. I didn't mean to get off topic, sorry.
L&N is also a favorite of mine too. I have PWRS Intermauntain L&N cylindrical hopper that's awaiting the weatherers torch and a few Kadee 50' PS1 cars to do too...
