Have you seen anything in there that makes you go "hmmm?"
I noticed the new Canaan, Connecticut Union Station in there from Branchline. This is a good sized station with a good sized price tag– $179.88.
There have been many requests for more large N-scale industries, but I don't think I've heard anyone on the forum mention the desire for a large & expensive station. I admit that one surprises me. I would think that if any manufacturer came out with a $150+ kit it would tend to be an industry of some sort.
Of course the Walters two large kits, the tannery and milk processing plant are both out of the catalog. |

None for me. Everything I saw in it I had already heard aboout. There may be a call for large structures in the online forums but it just hasn;t really translated into sales until you get to firesale prices.
The more I think about the less likelihood I see for large single unit structures. I see more likely a series of structures is possible. Like the grain or Ethanol that allows the modeller the flexibility to fit the industry into their own layout. That may change down the road but for now, I believe that approach has the best chance of actually happening for larger industries. |
An AS616 would be appreciated. |

Best thing I ever saw was a A/B set, undec of FA's, for $30! They are running right now. The smoothest running set I have of these locos. Including ones with Bearden treatment.

| The only surprise for me was that I spend $15 on it. It is fairly thing compare to years pass but the Z stuff seems to be growing with the addition of AZL. |

It is for products made by companies who will have to be dragged kicking and screaming into the current ages, who refuse to market their products effectively on the internet. Yet, it's not, because there are very few product photos. You have to really know what you want and have seen it before or have great faith in the untested.
IMO, it's not. The way of the print catalog is the way of the dodo. It's like comfort food for those who must have some sort of anchor, both the producer and the buyers. But that's coming from someone who still buys print books, hardbacks to boot. Yet, books don't change much over time. Catalogs, with their inventory, prices, etc. do. Can't wait for Walthers to go green and stop wasting trees. |

I get one about once a decade. I doubt if I'll buy another (I bought one on sale early this decade). I get nearly 100% of my new product info off the net these days.

I have to say that I have been waiting for Branchline to finally release the Canaan, CT Union station in N scale, ever since they released the HO version. This is a limited production run of about 150 kits. It certainly has appeal to me, since I model the Housatonic RR, which is based in Canaan.

Guys,I thumb through the catalog and thought it was ok but,I perfer the on line catalog..
My how time has changed since my first computer in 2001. |

When I started out in N back in the 1984, that catalog was a Godsend. In one quick read, I
could catch up on "most" of the major manufacturers, and what kinds of products were
available in the scale. Of course, that was before the Internet existed. By the end of the 80s,
I bought the catalog every other year. By 1995, I didn't buy it at all. Too many of the products
in that book were never in stock, and too many manufacturers were just left out completely.
I was also frustrated by the utter lack of clear photos and product descriptions on so many things
in there. After all, what good is a print catalog if it doesn't have that?
By 1996, I had regular access to the Internet, and that was that.
