For once I don't expect to order anything from this batch.

If I had more money -- and more storage space -- I might have gone for a 53' Evans double plug door boxcar in Boston & Maine with reporting marks of a different style than those on the two cars I already have. Remember that these cars are the proper length; Athearn's are about three scale feet underlength. Atlas's cars from the past few years also have decidedly better detailing than the first run of these models from Atlas.

Why must the model railroad gods mock me so? On my desk awaiting couplers is a kitbashed NS U23B. A week after finishing this is announced. Reminds me of a murphy's law rule I read in that thread.

I love when I can get coal-gons singly. I only buy them in singles, as a matter of principle. A lot of time I just want (and can only afford) 1 or 2 more, not a half-dozen...

Head back to the home page and download the Fall catalog released weeks ago. This engine was in there. Then, at least some of the surprises will be out of the way. Atlas usually still has other surprises with each month.

It would not have mattered, I am pretty slow on things, the engine has been in the works for 4-5 months easy. Oh well, the kitbashed one wont look as nice, but will have more meaning.

I feel like I'm the only one who's been looking forward to those standard height containers. It'll be the Evergreens I'm looking forward to; though some of the others are interesting. I'll pass on the Maersk. Some time ago, one of their head cheeses told me I couldn't photograph their containers or ships because they held the copyright/trademark. Yeah, right. Well, it's been that attitude that kept me from being Maersk-friendly, not his interpretation of the law.

I totally agree with this statememnt. I wish more companies would offer cars singly. One manufacture (Walthers) recently announced new road names for its ballast cars. One was Herzog. I have seen the prototype cars and wanted one. Guess what? Only available as a 3-pack. [:-banghead] Why can't some manufactures realize some of us modelers don't want nor need 2 packs, 3 packs or worse yet 6 packs of a car when all we want is ONE car. Congrats Atlas for doing this with the new Trainman aluminum coal gondola. I just want one car and plan to order one.

Glad to see the 2743's in the Oregon Steel Mills scheme. I never thought I would see these done accurately (the LBF and MDC ones weren't right), much less the short-bulkhead flatcars, but Atlas has surprised me on both accounts.

Atlas guys, be careful!
One of those CM units have a EMD cab applied by Mopac.
But it isn't 8903. 2008 picture.

Maybe Atlas could open up more markets by offering these two CM units also!

Why oh Why must you offer the Hanjan containers WITH the website address? the website address ones are too new for me modeling BN intermodal in the late 80's early 90's

Conductor's Portable to the head end of Amtrak 7. . America's train can depart Chicago Union Station on signal indication... Lets go to 44 44

Oh...because the ones without the website address are not correct on existing models in HO scale (high-cube or standard-height).

Well, then there is a logical explanation, thank you Mr Casdorph for explaining it!

I know it's just sample artwork, but the L&N U23B's for the road numbers shown were FB-2 trucks, and the artwork shows the type B. Although the for road number shown on the artwork it's correct since it's a former Monon unit.

Glad to see you are doing high hooded U23's, but I am cautious. The high hoods for the B23's are too flat on the hood and the number boards have too short a radius. Will this be corrected on the U23's???
