Very interesting. Do these come with the matching handrails and detail parts as depicted in the photos?
The EL is tempting, but I'd really like a PC C425 body. I'll keep my eyes open for future releases, I suppose. |

| I don't know enough about alcos. That is an alco body right? For which drive is it intended? Does that imply that I might someday see an atlas quality shell of a GP35 or GP30 if there is a drive for it? I'm thinking Kato GP35 drive with Atlas GP30 shell if this interesting trend developes. |

These are Atlas shells for Atlas drives. Although I certainly agree it would be interesting to see the possibilities. Also keep in mind these are extra shells. |

| I imagine these shells will fit the older Atlas/Kato C424/425 underframe and drive too. Of course, you could scratchbuild a frame out of components of your choice too, and power it however you want. |

The older yellow box units had the couplers mounted to the walkway assembly. The newer ones have the couplers mounted to the frame, on a newer/different frame casting. Might have to get a new frame, but all the drive components would snap in. Could make a C625, if so inclined.[:-bigeyes] The 3-axle trucks would also snap in.

Kudos to Atlas for this.
I just wish KatoUSA would offer decorated shells for their older models. I have two ACR SD40s that I wish I could get IMRL shells and handrails for. |

Kato had a similar sale a few years ago. I picked up the 2 GP35 shells they had issued for E-L ( 2558 & 2560 ). You also had to purchase the handrail and horn parts to complete the set. It worked well for me as I was able to acquire a couple of chassis with different roadnames at train shows and just had to swap shells. |

That's what I fear... I missed out on the decorated SD40 shells. :(
Oh well, not that the ACR engines aren't nice - just that IMRL (MRL) power would fit better in my theme. |

I ordered my EL decorated body on Monday morning and received it via the USPS this morning. As usual, great job by Atlas with parts. I did not specify which road number I wanted (two are listed) since I was planning on doing a CR patch. What I received is an unnumbered body which it turns out is great since it will make the patch job go easier.
So, if your looking for a specific road number make sure you ask; it also appears that there are some unnumbered bodies available as well although the website doesn't call that out. |

Send me an email tonight. I may have 1 or 2 MRL SD40 shells at home.

| EL no # bodies? Cool! Does it have all the bits that belong on the shell? |

Everything is there on the EL body that you would get on a (no number) powered unit.
